First Grade Players Player – Karl Bellerby
Let’s set the scene. Batting first on a tricky wicket, we set Bay & Basin 135 to win. Traditionally that’s a low total, but cricket’s a funny game and we were up for the contest.
Karl was thrown the ball in the first over and he did not disappoint, striking immediately to remove their captain and key batter for a duck. From that moment, what looked like a tough defence suddenly felt very real.
Karl’s first spell was outstanding, removing both openers and setting the innings up perfectly for the rest of our bowlers. His second spell was arguably even better, as he came back to rip through the batting order and claim another three wickets.
Karl finished with a brilliant five-wicket haul, ending with incredible figures of 5-11 off 6.1 overs. Take a bow, Karl!
